Octopus Skirts are generally used in conjunction with a resin lure head to make up a ”skirted trolling lure”. They are a silicone based rubber “skirt" that is available in a dizzying array of colours, these can be mixed and matched to create any lure colour imaginable. Called an octopus skirt because of the many strands that are cut below the head, resembling an octopus.

Octopus skirts come in a variety of sizes, each designed to fit snugly on a particular sized lure head. Small 4-6” pink skirts are a popular choice to rig in front of a ganged garfish or pilchard to be spun or trolled.You will also notice miniature octopus skirts available on the market these days, which are made for dressing up jigging assist hooks, giving extra flash and movement to a jigged lure.
