Outriggers & Accessories

Outriggers are the long poles attached to the sides of a vessel that are synonymous with game fishing. They are designed to spread and lift your baits and lures making them more visible, and attractive to gamefish whilst allowing you to fish more rods effectively from the cockpit of the boat.

The spread created with outriggers allows you to get your presentations more spread out than when running them directly behind the transom of the boat, and also gets lures or baits out into the clear water area outside of the prop wash created by the vessel. This allows the fish to get a better look at, and a cleaner strike of your baits and lures.

The secondary advantage of outriggers is the lift they can give to your lure or bait spread. By bringing the tow point of your presentation up to the outrigger release point, you can take much of your leader out of the water, which not only makes it harder for a fish to see, but it can give your lures much more “life” in the water as they are not getting bogged down by heavy leader and snap swivels allowing them to swim and smoke more freely.

Outriggers are a serious piece of kit to add to your boat, and there are many aspects that must be considered to properly rig them. However, if game fishing is something you wish to really delve into, they are an item that will give you a great advantage to succeed in the sport. We are here to help advise you on selection, and installation of all aspects of your outrigger choices from bases and poles, to rigging and positioning.
