Local Fishing Report Friday 9 January

Local Fishing Report Friday 9 January

Happy New Year everyone! The fishing has been great to kick start the new year with summer visitors like bonito starting to show up off the local rock ledges and Pittwater. More and more reports of marlin being caught are coming in from anglers fishing north of Sydney but it wont be long until these fish make their way further south to local waters.

Special mention to Jonty along with a bunch of keen younger anglers who landed this 140cm giant of a jewfish from the Hawkesbury caught on a frozen mullet! Talk about a school holiday to remember!

Sydney Harbour - Craig McGill

Took some time out over xmas/new year to do some family fishing on the Shoalhaven .  Great weather and great fishing for Flatties, EP's and bream .

Fishabout Charters - Sydney

Sydney Harbour & Offshore - Stewart Reid

Happy New Year, massive tides and moon over the last week have made things tough . Be early or miss out on the bait fish. Kings in ok numbers but no size and the sharks are definitely hungry. Some good flatties in the Harbour

Rock and Beach Fishing - Alex Bellissimo

Alex Bellissimo Rock and Beach Charters

Pelagic action has been sporadic with some kings, bonito and early morning tailor off the rocks. 10in Bait Junkie in the pink colour, OT Jigs 30gm in the blue sardine working the best. Fish being caught at Bluefish, South Whale rocks.
Rock Blackfish and bream up to 1.8kg, bream to 37cm on peeled king prawns and bread baits. Long Reef Collaroy and Little Bluey Manly. Fish for rock blackfish in summer? yes of course you can!

Pittwater - Fishing Station

The water temp in Pittwater is really warm with summer pelagics busting up around the bays, the entrance of Careel Bay and near West Head. Smaller metals the best choice. Some larger kings are taking live squid around Scotland Island and Lovett Bay but they are few and far between. The deeper parts of Pittwater are seeing small jewfish taking vibes and baits on dusk.
