Fishing Report June 20

Fishing Report June 20

Flat seas and light winds have opened up the offshore fishing with plenty of reef species being caught with tuna now starting to show up. The rocks and beaches have been providing a mix bag of winter and summer fish with the odd big king being plucked out of the harbour. In short, there are fish out there for those who brave the cold!

Sydney Offshore

Taking advantage of the calm seas and light winds have seen plenty of local anglers head out chasing a number of species with much success. Snapper have been active taking plastics on shallower reefs with the odd out-of-season bonito or mac tuna being caught. Although not in big numbers yet the tuna are slowly making their way to Sydney which is great news! As always, we can help get you geared up for this speeders.

Still a few good kings about but they are slowing down now with dropping water temps. Cuttlefish are the best bait . There are also big bonito and tailor hanging around the deep holes on the lower harbour and some good mulloway still biting.

Those getting up in the cold are getting ample rewards with kingfish and surface targets aplenty. Bait is tough so be prepared to move . Kids holidays soon give me a call

Pittwater

Pittwater has dropped in water temp and the clear, calm conditions have made fishing a little slow. Fishing in the afternoons has been the most productive time to fish with a good number of trevally and bream being caught on bait, soft plastics and 5 to 10 gm jigs. The clear water has been great for squidding with a number of XL squid lurking around the wharves and weed beds. Great fun for the kids if they are keen to brave the cold.

Late season bonito and mac tuna still available for the rock anglers. 30gm ot jig a great choice. Bluefish, North Curl Curl and South Whale ledges worth a shot. Distance casting for snapper with tuna fillet, squid strips and slimy mackeral fillet. Long Reef, Narrabeen and Mona Vale front of swimming pool.

A reminder - Always check the weather report before fishing the ocean rocks and stay safe. All beaches in the Northern Beaches are required to wear a lifejacket when fishing.
