Fishing Report - Friday 24 July
The offshore winter fishing has kicked off with big bluefin and yellowfin down the south coast and now Sydney is starting to see yellowfin being caught on the troll just south-east of Browns Mountain!
Closer to shore the kingfish are still on the bite but are mainly being caught offshore from Sydney Harbour. The salmon are thick in the harbour and Pittwater and the best thing is they aren't too fussy and are taking a range of different lures!
The beaches are fishing well with salmon too as well as big bream. The rocks have been producing good catches of silver trevally!

The winter tuna have arrived!
Big bluefin and yellowfin are on the chew down south, with plenty of surface-feeding action. Yellowfin have also now pushed into Sydney waters, with fish being caught just southeast of Browns Mountain.
Most Sydney fish have been taken on the troll, so now’s the time to get out there!
Sydney Harbour - Craig McGill
Crazy amounts of salmon on the lower harbour at the moment. Normally they get focused on tiny bait at this time of year and are impossible to catch but these ones are taking anything you throw at them .
Sydney Harbour/Sydney Offshore - Stuart Reid
Great fishing for kings offshore over the last couple of weeks. Good to see schools of salmon back in the Harbour as well. Blackfish are well worth a go as well
Sydney Harbour/Pittwater - Justin Duggan
My school holidays fishing frothers lure courses were a big hit. Most participants caught fish and everyone learnt plenty. We landed kings, jewies, salmon, trevally, flathead, legal snapper, bream, red rock cod and the odd grinner and yakka. Proof that well worked lure is deadly. Bait junkie prawns accounted for the majority of fish as well as Daiwa slippery dogs and Samaki vibes. There plenty of salmon kicking about and still the odd bonito as well. A few larger kings are lurking the harbour as well but bites are limited.
Rock & Beach - Fishing Station
The beaches have some awesome structure at the moment with a mix of winter staples like big bream and salmon as well as good numbers of whiting which usually slow down at this time of year. The salmon have been taking a liking to beach worms which is awesome fun on light gear!
The rocks have seen a big increase in trevally. Most of them are quite small at the moment with finding legal ones being a challenge. They aren't fussy though and are taking plastics, baits and small micro jigs.

Before the large swells and high wind we had some very good winter fishing. Snapper , pearl perch , tuskies and even some big winter cobia were caught. Kings and longtail still hanging around the headlands
