Fishing Station Youth Fishing Competition! April 3 - 6 Easter Long Weekend

Fishing Station is excited to host our first Kids’ Fishing Competition for the Easter Long Weekend. 

We’ll be awarding prizes for:
Longest fish in the following categories

  • Flathead (Dusky) 

  • Bream (Yellowfin Bream)

  • Whiting (Yellowfin/sand whiting) 

  • Silver Trevally

  • Best Photo

Competition Commencement

Start: 6am Friday 3 April 2026 

Ends: 6pm Monday 6 April 2026
Winners Announced: Wednesday 8 April 2026 

Codes and instructions will be provided on Thursday 2 April.

How to Enter

  • Participants must be 16 years old or younger.
    Register to the Fishing Station competition via the website and fill out the sign up sheet and entry fee (fee includes Fishing Station brag mat)

  • Take 2 photos. 1 photo of the fish on the Fishing Station brag mat. The photo must feature the fish (in full view) , the unique competition code and the Angler’s initials. Plus 1 photo of the angler holding the fish.  

  • Submit the photo via our website with a short description of the location and how the fish fought (funny stories very welcome)

Photo Tips

  • Hold the fish safely and securely.

  • Make sure the child and fish are clearly visible.

  • Ensure the measurement can be clearly seen in the photos

Who Can Enter?

Open to all anglers 16 years and younger — no experience needed. Beginners welcome! Fishing can be done from the shore or in a boat. 

Rules

  • All fish must be legally caught following the local State fishing regulations. 

  • One entry fee per entrant
  • Prize can only be awarded to an entrant who has registered to the competition 
  • Fishing must take place in daylight hours 

  • Fish must be caught in an estuarine waters. These are enclosed waters, fish can be caught from the river mouth but not a surf beach or offshore. 
  • Catch & release is encouraged. 

  • Photo must feature Fishing Station brag mat, unique code, angler’s initials.

  • To qualify you must take 1 photo of the fish on the brag mat and 1 of the angler holding the fish. 

  • Photos MUST be submitted via the Fishing Station competition website page. Photos sent via email, social media or post will not qualify. 

  • Winners will be notified via email and their photos shared on Fishing Station social media. 

Entries will NOT be accepted or disqualified if:

  • The entrant is over the age limit.

  • The catch violates fishing regulations or shows irresponsible/unsafe handling.

  • The photo is manipulated (edited or photoshopped), or fails to show both child and catch clearly.

  • Entry submitted outside competition dates or without required information

  • Images are taken after dark.

  • If photos are submitted via email or social media. 

General Conditions

  • Fishing Station reserves the right to amend, modify, suspend or cancel the competition at any time without prior notice, for any reason.

  • In the event of cancellation, no compensation claims will be accepted
