Local Fishing Report Friday 6 February

Local Fishing Report Friday 6 February

The fishing is very healthy at the moment with warm water both inshore and offshore. Anglers are having tonnes of fun on smaller sized bonito busting up close to shore which is ideal for younger anglers. Kingfish are still around in good numbers and the beaches are producing plenty of whiting, bream and small sharks.

Sydney Harbour - Craig McGill

Some good kings showing up around the deep headlands on the lower harbour - squid baits essential. Billions of small bonito everywhere taking a range of lures and a few medium sized jewfish on the mud bottom.

Whiting and bream are in reasonable quantity from Collaroy, North Narrabeen and Mona Vale beaches. Check out the beaches for holes, sand banks as there are a lot without much structure. Sand flathead and Tailor also part of the mix. 5in Bait Junkie prawn with 1/2 to 3/4 oz jig head seen landed close by. Tailor also on ganged 3x 4/0 hooks with whole pilchards.

The odd Mackeral, both spotties and spanish have been taking live and dead baits. Sharks unfortunately have become a real problem as usual. Current has been running hard out wide making bottom fishing difficult . Flathead and School Mulloway in the river
