Local Fishing Report 4 December

Local Fishing Report 4 December

Summer is finally here and so are the fish! The harbour is producing plenty of school jewfish, kingfish are making their presence off deeper reefs, the estuaries are producing plenty of flathead on soft plastics and the beaches have been very productive for big bream and whiting.

Sydney Harbour - Craig McGill

There is a lot of jewfish to 80cm around in the lower reaches. Squid is the prime bait. There is also heaps of salmon taking live yakka baits and a lot of big flathead.

Fishabout Charters - Sydney

Sydney Harbour Offshore - Stewart Reid

Once again the weather has been challenging. The kings have moved out wider seeking cleaner water so we are getting them on jigs as well as livies . Bait fishing at the moment can be frustrating so be patient and be prepared to move around .

Rock and Beach Fishing - Fishing Station

The beaches have had a good churn with a mix of southerlies and strong sea breezes. The wash has been ideal for fish like luderick which have been feeding on sea cabbage on rock shelves close to the sand. Big bream have been taking worms and flesh bait off many beaches with some whiting in the mix.

Southwest Rocks - Vic Levett

Oceanhunter Sports Fishing

26 c water to the coast and blue. Striped Marlin and Yellowfin offshore. Should start to see the odd Black Marlin soon along with the first of the Mackerel . The odd Cobia have been kicking around in close and within the river.

Pittwater - Fishing Station

The kingfish haven't made a name for themselves yet in Pittwater but that being said there are some reports of kings being caught at the usual haunts. There have been large bust ups of tailor near the entrance of Pittwater but they are shy and shut down quickly. XL size trevally are hanging around the moored boats - awesome fun on light gear.
