Local fishing report - 24 October

Local fishing report - 24 October

It's been unseasonably warm as of late with temperatures soaring both on land and in the ocean. The early warm water has seen a number of striped marlin being caught off Sydney which, fingers crossed we don't jinx it, may be the start of a bumper marlin season. In closer snapper are being caught off our local reefs and the whiting are starting to turn up in numbers off our beaches.

South West Rocks - Vic Levett

Things are starting to ramp up at South West Rocks. Snapper , Pearlie’s , Kings and Mulloway all on the chew. Plenty of bait around. No Mahi yet but they shouldn’t be far off.

Sydney Harbour - Craig McGill

Spent a few days fishing the Shoalhaven with my nephew for some great EPs and bream . Plenty of good flatties around  too . Pro-lure clone shrimp and vibes were the pick of lures.

Fishabout Charters - Sydney

Sydney Beach & Rock - Alex Bellissimo

Rock Blackfish are still in good numbers. Peeled prawn baits with a liberal amount of burley to get them sparked up. A token groper for my client as well going about 6-7kg (groper was released as by NSW law.). Try Long Reef, Mona Vale  and Barrenjoey headlands. Whiting numbers are increasing. You need the live worms. Manly, North Narrabeen, and Avalon beaches.
