Fishing Report - Friday 23 January
The game fishing is starting to fire up - even after the heavy rains. Sydney is starting to see good numbers of black and striped marlin as well as mahi mahi. Closer inshore the harbour and Pittwater are seeing good numbers of rat kings taking both bait and lure. The beaches are seeing plenty of whiting with bonito being caught along our rocks.
Sydney Offshore - Fishing Station
A day to remember! Fishing 170 fathoms off the bait station Sydney we went 4-3-3 on striped marlin with double hook ups on both the troll and switch baiting. Our new Sabre tournament RT game rods handled the fish with ease (although the angler’s arms may not be so good) To make the day even better the water was filled with smaller mahi mahi which were heaps of fun on the lighter gear.

Sydney Harbour - Craig McGill
There have been a lot of Mulloway, up to 90cm, around over the last few weeks and this should get even better with the discoloured water from local flooding. They are taking both fresh squid and live yakkas.
Sydney Harbour & Offshore - Stewart Reid
Lots of rat kings at the moment so consider using circle hooks on your baits and single hooks on your lures . This will make releasing far safer for you and the fish . Flatties in the Harbour are a alternative

Rock and Beach Fishing - Alex Bellissimo
After the big seas and rain fishing has really improved although seas are still moderate and slightly above. Whiting and bream in good numbers from Palm beach Warriewood and Manly beaches. Live worms a must. Some great snapper off the rocks as well. Slimy mackeral and squid strips. South Curl Curl high ledge, Warriewood high ledge safer options.
