Fishing Report - 18 September

The water temp is still quite cold but there are still kingfish in the harbour but they are very fussy with fresh/live cuttlefish being the best bait. The smaller rats are starting to make their presence in the harbour along with salmon in the upper reaches. The luderick are also on the bite in the harbour too! The recent swell has churned up the beaches and with the cooler temps there have been some good rock blackfish being caught. Off the beaches the whiting are starting to come back on the bite!

Still getting a few good kings but cuttlefish baits are essential . Plenty of Salmon in the lower reaches and Luderick around the jetties

Teeming schools of rat kings at all their usual haunts . Bait fishing is nice and easy. Watch out the whales are back and spatially unaware

My kids fishing Frothers lure fishing classes are back on for these school holidays , jump in quickly to grab a spot for your 12-17 year olds to get on my boat and learn the fundamentals! 
We had a brief visit from some XOS longtails tuna a couple of weeks back, it’s worth keeping your eyes out around the offshore reefs. There is the odd salmon school in Broken Bay and the Harbour but they are very unpredictable with feed times. When they are up they are not fussy so opt for a top water Daiwa slippery dog for explosive surface bites.

It’s only September and there have already been reports of Spotted Mackeral and Wahoo around. Longtail and Mack tuna are also in the bay at present. If you can find any floating traps ,most are holding Mahi.
